Rich Dimaio - I had a great dinner at Maynard's last week. I highly recommend the rib-eye steak with crab meet. It comes with mashed potatoes and asparagus and it's awesome -Posted September 09, 2009 - 2:12 pm This is updated because I never really mentioned the food in my initial review. The tiny kitchen in Maynard's puts out one hell of a cheeseburger. It's huge, for starters...and it's always cooked to order. It's the poster child for an advertisement of bar food. Let it find its way into you and light up the part of you that doesn't give a good god dang if it's raining or who's DJing at the casino. Great service! -Posted June 19, 2009 - 11:25 am This place is you quintessential Margate dive bar. It doesn't get much more South Jersey than this. They have two pooltables and have a few tvs showing local sports. This is a great place to get cheesesteaks. I'm serious, they are really good here. I've driven here just to get a cheesesteak. In the summertime they open the Starlight Garden outside. They also have a striper tournament every year. I never took part in that though. -Posted June 19, 2009 - 11:24 am i can't think of any other place to go in margate. a few years ago it used to be more "divey" though i do hate that description. they had 2 $ mooseheads. i used hang out and play pinball while i was waiting to pick up gear. you can get decent fried food, cheap beer and most likely get into a conversation with a stranger or a fisherman. baseball is always on tv and there is an outdoor area to hang out in during the warmer months |
